Friendships in literature and in our life

fredag 20. august 2010

Dear, I haven’t written anything here for a long time now. There has been so much going on, so this blog have simply been forgotten to say it on a nice way. This evening, I sat with the computer and was feeling rather gloomy. (Well, I’ve felt like that for several days now. Nothing extraordinary with that I guess.)

Anyway, I thought I could try to write something, but about what? I really don’t quite know. But (there is always a but), I’ve been watching a lot of Hornblower lately. Myself, I enjoy watching it. Meriwen (from TLC) actually said something to me in a message. She mentioned the great friendship between Mr. Hornblower and Mr. Kennedy. No, they didn’t know each other when they were small boys, they aren’t brothers and such. But still, their friendship simply wonderful.

Because if you do dig down in books and TV serials; you can find the most amazing friendships. There are so many to be mentioned. It’s probably now I should start writing this long list, but I don’t think I will do that. I’m sure that anybody that reads this have a friendship they can point at and say “I love their friendship.” Isn’t it so?

I should probably dig deeper into this, and I could always try. (Not that I think it will be successful.) Take Eustace and Jill from Narnia. At first, they have their arguments and at times, it somehow seems like they just want to fight against each other. But as the book goes on, they develop a strong and trusting friendship. The two that were so different change, but to the better!

Another friendship I really like is the one between Elinor and Marianne Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. They are sisters, but I think the count in a setting like this. They trust in each other, and belive in each other and most importantly; they support each other. It is possible to discuss this lot closer though, since there is so much more that can be explained. But still, they mean so much to each other.

There is so much more to be said, but this post is starting to get a bit long and the clock is much. What I want to get forward is the fact that reading/watching close friendships are rather a pleasure. It’s nice to have dear friends, isn’t it? But the most important friendship of them all, is our relationship with the Lord. And from a friendship, there is something called love. It is worth to think a bit about it. O.<

"The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give his life for them."

-John 15:13

Amen!
